The group debated the possibility of seeing wild animals and wondered whether they were looking at the incorrect time of day. Since many predators are more active at night, the mother may be hundreds of kilometers away and yet feel safe. The group wasn’t sure whether they had the patience to wait another night for the mother; the infants may not make it. If the men and ladies returned too late, they would never forgive themselves.
