Carried Away
Earlier in the day, the lady said, the curbside streams were swollen with water from the previous night’s downpour. She watched as the pups were swept away by the swift current and carried right to the sewage grate, where they were sucked in. Due to their little stature, they were unable to prevent themselves from falling into the sewer. Rescue workers breathed a collective sense of relief.
