Close Calls
The journey wasn’t without its challenges. At one point, Elias stepped on a dry twig, the crack echoing louder than he would’ve liked. He froze, watching the man’s reaction. The stranger paused momentarily, looking around, but then continued on his path. Another time, Elias almost sneezed, managing to muffle the sound just in time. With every close call, Elias’s heart raced, but he was determined to find out more about this mysterious islander.
