Leon grabbed his things from the car and put them in his motel room. He locked the door and walked to the lake with his fishing pole in one hand and the bait in the other. He was well aware that he would need to rent a boat.
As he neared a man standing near two tiny boats, the pier’s floorboards cracked under his weight. They appeared to be nearly as old as the motel, but fortunately, they had what appeared to be rebuilt engines.
