Jeremy devoted a lot of his free time to building the device, and every time he looked to see more garbage on his lawn, it suddenly didn’t bother him anymore. Devoting most of his free time to building his revenge contraption, suddenly the garbage on his lawn didn’t bother him anymore.
This is mainly because he’d think of his unfinished revenge and know that they’d pay soon enough. Now, after his finishing touches, he’d finally be done.
