A Curse
“Hi,” he replied, his deep voice and charming smile suffocating any remaining self-control she had. She had lost track of time before she knew it and was a month pregnant when he returned from his mountain adventures.
It was a curse she uttered again, alone in their Natchez home. Her lips curled as she imagined giving birth to a brunette-haired mini Chase because of her stubbornness and wit.
The thought hadn’t occurred to her that she wasn’t alone.
