They Were Serious
Hailey glanced from sister to sister as she scanned the table. “Me too. A month in.” Her eyes grew wet, and her mother came over. “You’re serious, aren’t you?” Hailey nodded.
“So are they,” she said. The way her sisters clung to every word their father said had become evident to her.
A look of disbelief crossed his face when he realized they weren’t joking.
