Dex Pritchett lived in Kansas with his lovely wife, Lindsey, and their beautiful, one-year-old daughter, Mikaela. Dex was your average dad and he worked as a lecturer in a local college. His wife owned her own bakery in town.
To him, life was absolutely perfect. But little did he know that everything would change when Mikaela turned five years old.
Bigger Family
The Pritchets found the perfect neighborhood in Kansas City and they lived in a big, beautiful home. There was more than enough space for the three of them.
They wanted to fill the space with more family members. So Dex and Lindsey decided to adopt a pet while discussing the possibility of having another child. But they didn’t know that trouble would begin long before they found a dog to join their family.
She Was Scared
The problems started when Mikaela told her parents that she was afraid to sleep alone in her bedroom. She would wake up in the middle of the night and find that she was all alone. Dex knew how terrifying that was for a small child.
Dex and Lindsey were understanding when it came to her fears, they assumed she only feared the dark. But soon enough, Mikaela began to cry whenever she was alone, even if it was during the day.
Terrified Child
Three years earlier, Mikaela had begun to sleep on her own, and Lindsey was so proud of her, despite having to stay with her while she fell asleep in the beginning. However, the transition to sleeping on her own had seemingly gone without a hitch.
Lindsey was concerned, she had no idea what to do now. Whenever Mikaela would wake up frightened, she would run into her parents’ room. But the problem only ever got worse.
