Girl Opens Olds Box And Learns Why Mom Told Her Not To
She heard her mom sobbing and her dad yelling. “I’ll say this one last time. Let her open the box or I will,” her dad’s voice rang out angrily.
She never knew why it had been such a significant argument. All she knew was that the next morning, her dad was gone.
She Hated It
Samantha hated that old box. The worst part was that she had no idea why. She’d never seen what was in it and only had a horrible memory of it burned into her psyche from that fateful day.
She had only been eleven back then; far too young to understand anything beyond the fact that her mom wouldn’t open the box and the next day her dad left. It would be years before she finally understood.
The Worst Day
The memories attached to that box were traumatic and frustrating. Her parents seemed to be normal and barely ever argued before that day. None of it had ever made any sense.
It was a difficult thing for a little child to try and make sense of. Clearly, there were pieces of the story she was missing. Samantha had spent most of her life with a burning desire to know what secrets her family seemed to have buried.
Everything Changed
Samantha and her mom had been like best friends before that day. She had always trusted her mother. That day changed everything.
She could never see her mom the same way ever again and always blamed her. Worst of all, it had left her unable to ever trust her mother again.
The Blame Game
Before that day Samantha had been an ordinary child with an ordinary dad. Every indication had been that her father loved her.
Her dad was kind, attentive, and loving. None of it made any sense. Samantha grappled with horrible feelings of abandonment all her life because of it. Eventually, she even began blaming herself.
