She was thrilled that a cat had crossed her path since it appeared to instinctively know just what she needed. From the looks of things, Thomas was the answer to all of her difficulties. Thomas the cat always seemed to know straight away when Jennifer was feeling threatened, and he would jump up onto her lap whenever Alfred made another effort to approach her.
