Marcus’ mom would always try to outdo Erica in every conversation they had. Depending on the topic, she would have a more upbeat/more depressing version of everything.
There were more traumatic experiences in her past, trips across Eastern Europe were more exciting, and she suffered more injuries and diseases. Additionally, she always corrected Erica’s grammar and actions at every turn. It was implied that Erica was a bad mother to Kelly.
