The Letter
As Pat took the letter, Joanna collapsed. As he read it, he felt as if someone had torn his heart apart.
The last time he was shot, it hurt far less than this one. In the line of duty, their baby boy, Derek, was killed.
It would be impossible for them to recover from this. Watching his wife slip further into depression every day, Pat felt powerless to console her.
