Fear
He stared back at the restaurant as he grabbed his duffel bag. It was not something he wanted to do, but he wasn’t able to refuse. His throat was cleared as he walked back to the front door.
The waitress’s face was cleared of annoyance. Fear had replaced it as he pulled something unexpected from his duffel bag.
