One major source of stress in their relationship was said to be Carolyn’s reluctance to have children due to harassment from the paparazzi. Carolyn was once quoted as saying, “I hate living in a fishbowl. John may be comfortable living like this, but I’m not. How could I bring a child into this kind of world?”
