Through The Trees
His pulse was pounding in his ears as he trailed the hiker deep past the treeline. It had recently rained, and a freezing wind howled past him, but sweat covered his neck and forehead.
The wet leaves on the forest floor squelched as he hurried through the woods. After searching for two long years, he was finally on the edge of finding answers. If only he had known what was waiting for him on the other side of the shadowy path.
