A Dangerous Place
“It’s dangerous out here,” Miles’s mom said, beckoning Tim closer. “I saw your flashlights and thought you were lost hikers. People rarely come this deep into the forest for a good reason. It’s easy to lose your way, fall into some pit, or worse, end up as some animal’s dinner.”
Tim swallowed a lump of air, making the woman chuckle. “But it’s okay now. We are safe.” Taking Miles’s hand, she asked if they wanted to go to her place.
