Job Applicants Who Walked Out of Interviews Share Their Stories

Unprofessionalism and disrespect

They had me waiting at the entrance to the back for almost an hour. When the manager finally arrived, I followed her to the back. She was walking really fast and I had a hard time keeping up because I was in dress shoes.

She kept commenting on my speed saying I would have to learn to walk faster if I want to work there.

When we got to her office, she asked two questions. One of them was about my employment gap. You know, during the recession. She then got up and just left. No reason was given at all.

Just left. Five minutes later, a random employee showed up and said that there’s going to be a second interview in about an hour. I told the employee that I’m just going to use the bathroom, and instead I just left.

Two hours later, I received a voice-mail from the manager berating me about my “unprofessionalism and disrespect.” I deleted the voicemail and laughed. A few days later, I found a job with much more respectful managers, a little bit better pay, but more hours.
