Ethan’s breath came in ragged gasps as he pushed himself to his limits, his legs aching from the strain. The forest was becoming denser, the trees closing in around him and casting eerie shadows on the ground. In the distance, he could just barely make out the figure of Max, now little more than a speck against the backdrop of the forest.
