He Felt Lonely On His Travels
Thomas and Iris had both made mistakes in their relationship, but the two hadn’t yet weathered the tough storms that were yet to come. Thomas was feeling lonely in his business travels and although he planned to return home to his wife for good, he was afraid to face her. She would surely be upset that the only way Thomas could stay home was by quitting his well paying job, because she was so frustrated when he lost his job a year prior. He was now facing his own emotional turmoil that might end up changing their relationship for good, and he started to feel like he was the one who needed a confidant to open up to.
