It had been ten years since Lucas Duncan started working as a guard for the Statue of Liberty, and he’d learned a lot about her and her story. He guarded her with integrity and stayed committed to his oath of protecting her from all harm.

Lucas was often said to be the best guard the lady had ever had, and that wasn’t just flattery; he was entirely devoted to his job. He noted every little detail and could tell if the smallest thing was out of place.

But one horrible day, everything went awry.

In his long stint guarding Liberty, Lucas had come to know every fact there was to her. Her meaning and origin were well known, but few were aware of her secrets hidden right in front of their eyes.

The architects of Lady Liberty had inscribed certain messages onto the statue, obvious only to those who studied her closely. Only a small handful of people knew their meaning.

But what were the masses of visitors missing?

Beams Of Light

Lucas frequently listened as young girls pointed to the lady’s crown, describing it as big, stretched-out diamonds. He never spoke up when he heard this.

He was silently aware that those stretched-out pieces were actually a representation of beams of light traveling across the world.

And there were other mysteries that weren’t so easily explained, too.

Liberation

Affixed to the lady’s left foot is a broken chain. Few were aware of its meaning and how significant it truly was.

The chain was a symbol of the liberation from slavery and subjugation – a striking statement even by itself.

But her right foot also held a significant and hidden message that was less obvious.
