The part that Joe found hard to swallow is the fact that he is legally accountable for cleaning up the mess even though he didn’t create it. All he wanted was to not have an extra burden laid upon him on top of supplying amazing crops for everyone to eat. Farming is a thankless job, but not this thankless.
