38. Got Conned
I was dating someone for over four years. I had moved across the country once for him, he moved across the country once for me, and we both moved across the country together to a new city.
We’d been in our new city about six months when he started acting really strange to the point when I asked him if something was wrong he said yes and when I asked him what it was about he wouldn’t tell me.
Who does that? Anyway, I found out he had cheated on me waaaaay back in the first year of our relationship with a married woman and had been maintaining an emotional relationship with her for the last three years. They were in love with each other and I guess that was resurfacing or something at this point. I left him, obviously.
Looking back, I remember the times we had her over for dinner because her husband was out of town, and she didn’t have many friends. The time I let her crash on my couch. The times he went over to help her out and “change the oil in her car.”
There are a couple of other female co-workers/friends I highly suspect he also cheated on me with, but he would never admit it.
