The Interrogation Began
Two unfamiliar policemen questioned Doris about her history in a military interrogation chamber. Doris realized she had to answer their inquiries carefully to avoid revealing too much or putting herself in danger.
Doris submitted her letter to the newspaper anonymously, so no one would know she tipped off the press about her son’s distressing last message. She remained cool while the cops questioned her, knowing that the more she told them, the more at danger she would be. She wanted to survive the interview without giving away too much or endangering herself.
