Although this story started out with a grim diagnosis, Mason did sort of win in the end. Not only did he make Kate pay for her indiscretions, but he appears to be responding quite well to treatments for his cystic fibrosis. His lungs are reportedly working at 71% capacity. Unfortunately, his wife had a bit of a setback.
