37 Years Later Plane Finally Lands

On May 21, 1992, air traffic control officers were conducting routine operations at an airport in Venezuela’s capital city of Caracas. A DC-4 Douglas airplane appearing out of nowhere came at noontime.

Because it was not picked up by the airport’s radar, everyone was completely unprepared. Juan de la Corte, an air traffic controller, was the first to see the aircraft.
