Nothing Had Been Eaten
The sandwiches, fruit, and small bag of pretzels were all still there as if Emily hadn’t eaten a single bite. As Laura removed the food from the lunchbox, she was shocked to find a neatly folded piece of paper tucked beneath one of the sandwiches. Her hands trembled as she carefully unfolded the note, her eyes widening as she read the words written by her daughter’s teacher.
