Checking In
Every day, Sarah would check in with Derek and see how things were going at home. She wasn’t used to not being around her husband and daughter, and she always felt better after a phone call.
During their daily call, there was always background noise. Sarah always assumed that the noises were coming from Maddie playing around.
But one day, Sarah distinctly heard a giggle and she knew it wasn’t her daughter.
