Bat Facts

National Parks Service / CC0

The Little brown bat is found all over the northern U.S. and most parts of Canada. They live in colonies that can grow to hundreds of thousands of individuals.

Bat colonies gather at nesting sites, called roosts. Bat colonies will have several different types of roosts – some for resting or napping during the day, and others for shelter at night. The Little brown bat only eats insects.
