Seemingly Calm
She had closed the kitchen door behind her before stepping onto the porch. Dolly called out to the animal, but it stood staring at her, unmoving.
She did not want to scare it away, so she stepped as slowly as possible toward it. It stayed where it was, so she took another step and reached her hand out. The creature had seemed calm but now snarled at her before it lunged.
