Sowing The Seeds
User ash_27th worked as a biology teacher at a private school. During finals, students only come to school to write their test and then leave at 10 am. Teachers, however, stay longer to mark all the exam papers she explains.
When the students leave for the holidays, teachers need to stay on campus for longer to prepare for the following year. The user posted about a meeting that occurred that morning. She met up with a fellow teacher who was the mother of one of her student’s.
She shared with the user that her daughter loved biology and that she was proud of her final exam performance. The user shared with her colleague that her daughter was a bright student and she was pleasant to work with.
Her co-worker told her that at her daughter’s previous schools, the science teachers lacked imagination and she despised the sciences. This was the case up until ash_27th became her teacher!
The conversation continued and the mother shared that her daughter wanted to pursue a dentistry career. After hearing this, the user had a revelation. She thought about how she was not responsible for her co-worker’s daughter’s bright future, she was born to do great things!
As a teacher who loved her job, all she did was show her that studying biology can be fun and interesting! The fact that they take what she teaches them, and turned them into great careers is the reason why the user chose teaching as a profession!
