Bear fathers and are just as likely to harm one of their cubs or even someone else’s cubs in order to survive. In fact, it’s more likely that they’ll do this without even needing a reason. This means that a cub’s only odds of survival are to stay healthy and stick with their mother as she is less likely to harm them unless absolutely necessary. And in this case, the bears were all very hungry and just looking for a way to survive the cold.
