The Tension Builds
Alex could feel the weight of his mother’s words, making his already heavy heart feel even heavier. The coldness in her voice was new, and he had never imagined a situation where he’d be on opposing sides with his own mother.
“What has led us here?” he thought. There had always been disagreements, yes, but nothing of this magnitude. “Is it the grief?” he pondered, thinking about his father’s recent demise, “Or something deeper?” As the conversation continued, he began to realize that perhaps there were layers to their relationship that he had never understood.
