The Raikoke Volcano is on the Kuri Island right off Japan’s coastline and while volcanic eruptions can cause a great deal of devastation, the island is fortunately uninhabited. So, no property damage, injuries or loss of life occurred as a result of the eruption. But it wasn’t the first time it had erupted. In fact, the first time the Raikoke Volcano erupted was in 1778 and it happened again in 1924.
