A couple of days later, he couldn’t help but show his displeasure. Officer Daniels drove in his police car, crossing over from the bustling city of Chicago into one of the numerous suburbs in Illinois. He had yearned for a life dedicated to combating crime and safeguarding people from the grip of injustice.
Seasoned police officers had warned Officer Daniels that suburban shifts could become excruciatingly monotonous, and make minutes seem like hours on the job. They advised him to brace himself by stocking up on audiobooks for the long shifts. Although he was disappointed, Daniels would come to regret not fully appreciating those seemingly uneventful days.
