Husband Left Her Days After She Got Paralyzed, Had No Idea How Far She’d Go For Revenge

Sometimes it’s difficult to tell the difference between those who take their vows seriously and those who don’t. Riona Kelly was one of those who believed in the best in people.

A Mother Of Four

Kelly had been married to Richard for fourteen years and had four children she adored during that time. Kelly was a wonderful mother to Leighanra, who was seventeen; Izabela, who was seven years younger than her; 12-year-old Caleb; and Logan, who was half his age.

She wanted to be there for her children in every way possible. She kept herself healthy by exercising regularly and cooking nutritious meals. Everyone thought she had the perfect family, but things were not as they seemed.

Thirty Seven

Kelly was only 37 years old when there wasn’t enough blood supplied to her spinal cord, leading to her spinal stroke. She was paralyzed from the waist down.

The spinal cord is unable to function without enough blood supply. When it doesn’t receive what it needs, there is often tissue damage or injury to the spine. The nerve impulses that travel up and down the spine are then blocked.

It Was A Blur

Spinal strokes are rare, with only 1.25% reported cases. Kelly was brought unfortunate news and was told that stroke meant she would never walk again. Kelly recalled the day it happened and said that she had been at home with Logan.

“A lot of it is a blur, but I remember falling down the stairs,” she said. “And Logan had to call for someone to help me.”

She recounted the car accident she had been involved in eighteen months before her stroke. “They warned me that there could have been problems with my spine,” she said. But they assured her that she had optimum health and that there was no reason to be concerned.

Abandoned

There was more that rubbed salt in the wound. It had just been five days after the incident when her husband left her and the kids. He was not there to support her; she had to rely on the hospital staff and her family.

Her life had changed completely, and she was heartbroken that she had been abandoned by the one person she needed the most. She wondered how she would ever overcome this.
