Their Only Friend
The only time Steve would leave the house was to spend time in his garden; however, Alice would occasionally take the car and drive around town. Alice used to volunteer at a homeless shelter in a different area of town, but only Mrs. Roberts, their close neighbor, was aware of this.
For some unknown reason, they only shared that information with Mrs. Roberts. Even though she was the only friend she had in their community, she was as dedicated, respectful, and loyal as she possibly could be. That wasn’t all, though.
