Accepting The Situation
The only upside to not being allowed to head home for such a significant event was the implication that all was well. If soldiers could only go home if there was trouble with the birth, it should have been a cause for relief that nothing bad was happening.
Unfortunately, it was bittersweet for the couple. They knew they couldn’t circumvent the rigid requirements. Brooks would have to remain on duty, and Haley would have to get through the birth by herself.
Brooks was absolutely devastated by this outcome.
