Nothing To Be Done
Nothing could be done about it. The Red Cross’s special leave was only approved in specific situations where there was medical evidence that the mother and/or baby were in some kind of danger.
Brooks contemplated it for hours, even considering a route that most would disapprove of. But deep down, he knew he wouldn’t be able to cheat the system. He had no choice but to remain enlisted to retain his dream career.
It just had other consequences that were devastating.
