The signing of the Camp David Accords
On September 17th, 1978, Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem signed the Camp David Accords. The signing took 12 days of secret negotiations at the presidential country retreat. The two framework agreements were signed with President Jimmy Carter as the witness. Indicated in the deal was the “Conclusion of a Peace Treaty” between Egypt and Israel. The agreement would eventually lead to the 1979 Egypt–Israel peace treaty. Sadat and Begin would receive the shared Nobel Peace Prize in 1978.
