The Beatles’ U.S. arrival
No band has had as big an influence on pop music as the Beatles. They were one of the first English bands to kickstart the “British invasion.” In 1964, the Fab Four arrived at John F Kennedy airport in New York. This was their first visit to the U.S., fresh off scoring their first number one hit. Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr would make their live U.S. debut just two nights later on The Ed Sullivan Show. The episode was watched by more than 73 million people. It was the night that Beatlemania took over.
