Stepping On The Brakes
Lizzie watched as the truck wobbled in front of her and tipped over. The width of the interstate, including her lane, was taken over by the truck’s trailer. The trailer would get to her even if the tire didn’t.
Lizzie reacted as fast as possible and switched lanes while she stepped on the brakes. She avoided the tire by moving as far as possible, but her breath was still caught in her throat. The trailer was still coming toward her.
