Real Life Bad Therapy Sessions That Were Very Memorable

A Big Misunderstanding

I went to see a marriage counselor after my wife and I had separated, and the counselor asked me to fill out a questionnaire. It told me to score how hopeful I was about the marriage working out.

I selected a very low number. When he asked me about it, I said that while I felt hopeless about the marriage, I was very motivated to work things out.

I further pointed out the fact that even though my wife moved out, which left me in a real terrible situation at home, I still left work in the middle of the day for the appointment, and was in his office paying full price to find some kind of path to reconciliation.

His response was that he 100% understood the difference. But hours later, the horrible truth came out.

Later that day, my wife called me after her one-on-one with him where, according to her, he told her that he didn’t understand why she even came into the office because I was clearly not interested in a future with her. He referenced my response to the “hopefulness” question in his questionnaire.

I was beyond furious about that. There has been no other time in my life where I wanted to punch an old man. Story credit: Reddit / weDoNotDeserveDogs_
