The Chances Were Pretty Slim
Before I bought a house, I moved a lot. During one move, I sold a huge plush ottoman on Craigslist. I loved that thing, but it didn’t fit in my new place. About two years later, I moved again, and I wished I had it.
So, on a whim, I looked and found one on Craigslist and went to buy it. It was my old ottoman. It was in a completely different part of the city from where I dropped it off when I sold it, but with the same person.
I didn’t know it was mine until I walked in. I had sold my whole living room to this woman. I noticed she also had my old sofa and rug, none of which I ever expected to see again.
