Real Life Medical Emergencies Caught Just in Time

I was walking out of a longer-than-eight-hour emergency room wait, with what I thought was just a “migraine.” I had waited long enough and I was not interested in waiting around any longer. Just as I was starting to leave, a triage nurse suddenly looked at me and his horrified face said it all.

Something was “just off” about the way I looked. He told me to stay and said he would ensure that I was looked at immediately. I took his word for it and stayed, and he came hauling back at an intense speed about five minutes later.

Another 15 minutes after that, I found myself lying on a table getting a spinal tap and receiving a diagnosis of meningitis. I would not have survived the night if I had just gone home as planned. Story Credit: Reddit/urahozer
