Real Life Medical Emergencies Caught Just in Time

When I was a kid, I was at the beach with my dad one summer afternoon. While we were there, a random woman came up to us and told him that she was a dermatologist and that he should really have that large mole on his back checked out. She was quite nice about it, but also really, really insistent.

He simply brushed it off, but he would soon suffer the consequences of his ignorance. When I was 15 years old, he passed from melanoma. All from that darn mole that he never got checked out. I think she just knew.

She kept saying how important it was and how a lot of people write these things off, but they’re actually really important. I still remember the look on her face as he politely thanked her and we walked away, leaving her standing there in the sand.

The message hasn’t sunk in. He wasn’t getting it checked out. It wasn’t her fault, but she looked so sad. Then she shook it off and went back to play with her kids. Story Credit: Reddit/adertal
