My mom and her best friend lived through WWII In their mid-twenties. Post-war, her best friend got involved in some shady black market activities together with a colonel of the French army. They got caught, the colonel got sent back to France, and she got sent behind bars.
My mom wasn’t going to let that slide. She decided to do something about it, but her plan was outrageous. She ended up seducing a prison guard, letting her best friend escape.
The best friend hightailed it out of Germany and went to Australia to marry her Jewish boyfriend, who had left Germany when it was still possible.
