He Didn’t Really Want to Know
Back when I was 16, I used to work at a hardware store. Some customer who was an old man walked up behind me and whispered in my ear, “Do you know where I can find the hoses at?”
He said that so close to my ear that I could feel his warm breath while he was caressing my shoulder. My whole body froze. All I could say was, “I think they’re in aisle five.”
