He Showed His True Colors
Once, at a parking garage, my ex-husband and I were very close to getting out for free, but there was a car in front of us taking its time. We get up to the booth and the elderly lady working at it tells us it’ll be a dollar.
A dollar. My ex starts arguing with her, saying if she hadn’t been so slow with the other customer, it would be free.
The woman looked terrified. I tried calming him down but he started screaming at the old woman, calling her names and saying that she needed to be better at her job.
We started fighting because it was ridiculous. I paid the dollar and he sped off. We fought about it for the rest of the day. Very few people saw this side of him.
This was because he was good at pretending to be a good person. I lost friends who couldn’t believe I’d leave such a good man.
