There Wasn’t Any Stigma About It
“So, once upon a time, my grandfather was growing up in Detroit in the 40’s and 50’s and he was dating some girl. Then his parents (Who were from Italy) said that he had a nice cousin across the pond that was very pretty and and a great home maker. A nice first cousin. Then my grandfather went over to Italy, met my grandmother and then they got hitched started making babies. The early 1900’s and Europe are both weird times. I forget they were first cousins. There wasn’t really any stigma about it because my great grandparents were apparently all for it. Although I think it was more just to get the rest of the family out of bumpkin town, Italy and over here to the land of the free and home of the brave.”
