Clearer Picture
Morgan began her study on the crater in 1996 and it was the first of its kind. Desperate to have a clearer picture of the crater, Morgan had her team tow a huge air gun behind the research vessel. They used it to blast the seafloor with seismic waves that bounced back. This revealed a lot about the crater.
The research was more concerned with the size of the crater, rather than its impact on the earth and how it changed everything.
